My Third of a Life Crisis
In a move I can only refer to as a third of a life crisis (living to be 100 felt to ambitious) I quit my job as a sports reporter and decided to travel the country in my 2018 Jeep Rubicon. With few obligations at this point in my life it felt like there’s no better time to see the world and make some memories.
My goal is to stick to my route as much as I can with some room for spontaneity and no time frame of when I have to be back. I know there will be up and downs, but that was going to happen on this trip or at home so this way I can at least say I tried. This a big step for me personally and definitely outside of my comfort zone it’s a good balance of scary and exciting.
By no means do I consider myself an ‘influencer’ of any sorts. I’m not one to do something just to show other people. This website and other medias are for my friends and family to keep up with me on my journey (apparently phone calls weren’t enough).
The Build
The build itself took a few months and a lot of favors, but has room for my clothes, a fridge, a six foot long bed, my camera equipment and way to cook chicken and rice. Both front seats are useable with a flip support behind the passenger seat. I have two solar panels on my roof that power a 1000 watt Jackery that keeps my fridge and everything else charged. All in all it serves as my bedroom, kitchen, closet and office while getting a not very fun 16.5 miles a gallon.
The Route
The route I intend to follow is a little crazy, but it’s a good mix of big cities and national parks to both mix up my adventure and provide plenty of photo opportunities. I only plan to do this once, so I wanted to experience as much as I could which as it sits right now is 25 states, 31 national parks and both neighboring countries.
